First the bad news.
On Feb. 6, 2002 our hard drive died and we lost everything that had happened here since April of 2001.
Basically the forums were re-set to when we last backed up the message threads. Everything posted between then and now is gone, kaput. The hard drive it was all on died and is now a paperweight.
If you had event information up here, please repost it. If you had historical material that you'd like to make sure is available again, please repost. If you had a brisk discussion going on a topic of interest, please repost it. Unfortunately, due to space limitations on the old hard drive we couldn't back up the message threads.
I'm trying to make updates on conferences and forums so that our structure looks more like we have recently. Please bear with me as I archive old threads and "clean the slate" so we can start over.
One other inconvenience - if your username no longer works, you'll have to sign up again. The username database was trashed with the old hard drive.
The good news.
The funds contributed last year were used to purchase a new hard drive and other essential hardware so that we're now operating in a faster and much more reliable environment. We no longer have any problems with space limitations and if I understand it all, can now back up the forums fully as needed.
We also will be able to finally upgrade to the newer version of our forum software. I'll try to let you know when that's coming. I suspect that we'll ask folks to sign up again when we do that, since I'm not sure the old username files will convert to the new format.
I regret that this has happened, but hope we'll pick up where we left off and continue to fulfill the purposes for which we've worked.
