Civil War Reenactors Mailing List and Newsletter
A *free* newsletter that consists of messages from Civil War reenactors
from all across the United States (and several around the World) is in
operation on the Internet. These messages consist of discussions of recent
and upcoming reenactments and living histories, male and female dress,
weapons, accessories, food, music, and almost anything else that fits the
period of the Civil War. Many subscribers to the list simply "lurk".
That is, they subscribe, but never send messages, just simply read the
ones that others contribute.
Welcome To CW-Reenactors
This is a mailing list dedicated to the Hobby of Civil War Reenacting.
The list is yours to discuss any aspect of living history as it relates
to the Civil War.
The List is *not* to be used to refight the War! If you need
to express your views on Succession, Slavery, States Rights or other great
issues and it does *not* enhance your or another's impression or understanding
of the Hobby say it elsewhere. Other than this admonition, enjoy yourself
in open discussion.

There are two different ways to receive the messages that others post.
Either receive each as a separate message, or as a digest. The digest consists
of numerous messages contained in one large message sent out on regular
intervals.
Here are the instructions for subscribing for separate messages:
To Subscribe:
Send email to
cw-reenactors-request@world.std.com
with *nothing* in the subject line and only the word "subscribe"
as the body of the message.
To Post:
Send your postings to:
cw-reenactors@world.std.com
To Un-Subscribe:
If you ever want to remove yourself from this mailing list, send email
to:
cw-reenactors-request@world.std.com
with *nothing*in the subject line and only the word "unsubscribe"
as the body of the message.
The Digest is, in essence, another mailing list that receives postings
from the main list. If you wish to have the messages in Digest format you
have to unsubscribe from the main list and resubscribe to the Digest list.
To Subscribe To CW-Reenactors-Digest:
First unsubscribe from the separate List as described above. Then:
Send messages to:
cw-reenactors-digest-request@world.std.com
Put *nothing* in the Subject line:
Put the word "subscribe" in the body of the message.
